Old City of Tzefat There's a piece of my heart that is solidly imbedded forever and ever in Tzefat. After we got married my husband and I went to Israel. And after a couple of weeks of traveling around we ended up in Tzefat. On top of the mountain this little city is covered in cobble stone, steps, doors and walls and windows painted this color blue that spells Israel. It's surrounded by valleys and mountains and is the home to most spiritual mysticism and art. We lived and learned there for 4 months. We watched the sun go up on one side of the mountain and go down on the other. We watched the rain clouds float below our bedroom windows, and burned fire in our wooden stove on the first floor during wet winter months, while enjoying sun through the windows of our bedroom on the third floor. 30 years later our daughter spent a year studying in the same seminary as I did, when I was only 4 years older than her. While very different and much more modern than Tzefat of my years, there it was still the same in so many ways. The air, the mountains, the stones and even people were memory alive again.
